lean bottom system (LBS)

The lean bottom system (LBS) combines agitator, bottom outlet valve and up to two sensor ports in one prefabricated block that is set into the vessel bottom as a single unit. The deep-set impeller keeps the product in motion until the vessel is drained; the valve block has no dead legs and drains completely.

Design

One block in the bottom. Instead of many nozzles.

Welding agitator, valve, drain and sensors individually into a dished bottom causes heat distortion, warping and rework on the polish. The LBS is supplied as a prefabricated multi-port flange: the vessel builder welds one flange instead of several, and the critical bottom geometry is finished in the factory.

  • Agitator, bottom outlet valve and up to two sensor ports in one flange
  • Substantially less welding on the vessel, lower risk of distortion
  • Valve block without dead legs, fully drainable and cleanable
  • Flush flow path, actively swept by the agitator
  • Mixing down to the lowest level, no stratification during draining

Configurations

Standalone or paired. By vessel size.

60 to 250 L working volumeStandalone

In smaller vessels the LBS is the only agitator. It mixes the entire volume, from the full vessel down to the heel.

Large process vesselsPaired

In large vessels the LBS works together with a main agitator. Its geometry is designed for the heel volume: once the main agitator has stopped, the LBS keeps the remaining product homogeneous.

Valve and actuator

Two valve variants. Actuator of your choice.

Both valve variants sit in the same dead-leg-free flange. The choice depends on the hygiene risk of the process.

For media and buffersStandard bottom diaphragm valve

The basic version for fully drainable harvesting. Suitable where the valve does not need to be sterilised separately between process steps.

For high-potency and sterile-critical applicationsValve cleaning system

An integrated rinsing port flushes cleaning agents (CIP) and steam (SIP) actively through the valve body. Residue in the valve is avoided, and the outlet is cleaned and sterilised along with the vessel.

Make according to site standardValve actuator

The operator selects the make of valve actuator so that it fits the existing automation. liquitec handles the mechanical integration and guarantees a dead-leg-free connection between actuator and valve block.

Explosion protection

One system. One ATEX certificate.

liquitec certifies the entire functional unit as one system under ATEX, for Zone 1 or Zone 2. Instead of collecting individual certificates for each component, the operator receives one dossier for the whole assembly.

  • Covers LBS body, agitator, valve body and actuators
  • Zone 1 or Zone 2
  • One set of documentation for the whole assembly
